Drawing

I never know how to draw Alex. He is a handsome piece of man muffin and I want his butt, but when I do a lil doodle of him I always have to lie abit. Alex has facial hair and whenever I draw it on him the picture gets ten times creepier. I've got no problem with his man mane in real life, but drawing it's just... wrong.

He is right beside me right now playing Mount and Blade trying to defend a castle versus 1057 people. He has 70.

Good luck.

I have an addictive personality, not like I'm addicting to be around but I become addicted to things easily. If I enjoy something the chances are I will not put down this interest until I have exhausted it extensively. This latest obession has been Mount and Blade, an open ended action rpg for the computer avilable on steam. I'm not into Medieval fantasy at all, if anything I tend to aviod the genre as a whole. That is why I am slightly confused to why I've spend over 3 hours a day fighting long and hard against the wimpy Swadians.

Playing without a concrete story is daunting at first but the fun of battles, tournaments and quests soon helps the looming fear dissapear. Rather than being propelled by an indepth story, Mount and Blade is instead propelled by the player own ambitions and fun, exciting gameplay. I have played over 10 hours of the game as a whole and I still find there are more things to see and do.

The game is not for everyone, espeically those who put an importance on graphics. Being an older game you can't neccesarily blame it for it's rustic textures and choppy models. If you can push past the first impression and get to the core of the game, the graphics quickly take a backseat to fun. Gameplay is addictive, but battles take practice and people without paitence could find the learning curve tedious. If you really find the graphics that offendsive, there are now two sequels out for Mount and Blade with improved graphics, story and game play. I just haven't gotten around to buying them. (If you're interested in buying them I would do that now since they are all on sale on Steam)

I reccomend anyone willing to sit down, learn and play to pick up this game and get ready for an addiction. If you enjoy the managment and sieging aspects of games like RotTK and the hack and slash game play of Demon Souls or Sengoku Basara, I would highly reccomend it as well. Good times all around.

Happy Mothers day to every mom in the world.
Mom's are tough.
If you are tough- you are a mom.

In other words I would really love to play Mount and Blade. I can't really say anything about it because I haven't played it that much, but from what I've seen its amazing.

Also I saw Thor. My favourite star was the boom mic.

At one point in every gamers life the dream of being a game developer comes into light. Now whether or not you decide to follow that dream you can get a piece of the fun with Game Dev Story by Kairosoft for the Iphone. The game puts you in the role of running an indie game company through out a 20 year span. In these short 20 years its your job to create the best games you can, and maybe win a few awards along the way.

When creating a game you can choose the type, genre and direction of the game as a whole. Different combinations of types and genres will have different reactions from your loyal customers and fans. For example a robot shooter game is an excellent combination and will garner a lot of attention, but a romantic racer might not be the best choice if you're trying to make a hall of fame game.

The games runs well and I've had no problems with it so far. Everything you need to do is always a click away, which makes the game incredibly easy to maneuver. I usually find my self multitasking while playing because you can very easily play the game with one finger and half a pint of attention being payed to it.

All in all the game is completely enjoyable and very easy to get into. I'd recommend Game Dev Story for anyone who has enjoyed games like Hospital Tycoon, Top Shop and Metropolis Mania. If you are someone who likes tycoon games in general this would probably be a smart game to add to your collection.

Kairosoft excels in making these adorable, extremely fun, tycoon games. It has multiple games release in Japanese and their game Hot Spring Story is currently released in English.

So I am at my aunts right now and writing this. Alex has been away in the states for a week and I've just been farting around at home. Luckily Alex knows I have absolutely no life other than hanging out with him and playing video games and being the sweetie he is lent me his (brother's) wii. It lent me a few key games like Mario Kart, Kirby's Epic Yarn and My Life as a King. I can literally spent 60 hours straight playing My Life as a King, I don't know why but it's a life draining game. Very fun.

I rented a few games too and I've put down the royal life to take up a hoe and roleplay as a farmer with Harvest Moon Animal Parade. In my opinion Harvest Moon will never reach the the same enjoyability as 64. There hasn't been as many enjoyable, relaxing and life sucking farming sims since that. Animal Parade isn't 64, not at all, but it's a large improvement from Magical Melody and Save the Homeland.

Although hard to get into at first, Animal Parade quickly turns enchanting. The characters are bright and enchanting, all of them are easy subjects to fall in love with. The mechanics are easy enough, although perhaps I cheated since I used the classic controller for most of my game. It's not 64 in anyway, but it feels comfortable to play as a fan of the first few Harvest Moon games. There is a certain air to the game that makes it feel nostalgic.

My birthday was a few days ago (the 8th) and this was my first SURPRISE BIRTHDAY. I kind of asked for it in the first place but it was like I didn't know when it would be or if would actually happen. It was held at the cutest little chocolate shop downtown. I was taken there by my sister who I thought was taking me to a fancy bar restaurant place. Well we went to this Chocolates Etc, and when I got there Ange, Kevin, my aunt Donna, my dad and my delicious boyfriend were there to greet me with the biggest smiles of the century. The cake Alex got me was delicious too! The cake was made out of slices of fancy wedding cake that hadn't been taken after a wedding cake testing the day before.

When I was a kid I never had the priviledge of buying games. My family always took my sister and I to the local video game store and we rented our weekly entertainment. While this led to both of us being introduced to an assortment of games it also left us unable to replay any of them in the years later. This always bothered me. I never knew it was even possible to BUY games, I thought they were something only rich people got to own. Now years later I find myself with the unquenchable thirst to play classics like Secret of Mana, Harvest Moon 64, Theme Hospital, Bust a Groove and Um Jammer Lammy. Those last two esspecially- my love for Um Jammer Lammy is so pure that I cosplayed as Lammy for Anime North. Luckily the game stores around here are well stocked and I have the most bitchin' boyfriend.

About a week ago Alex bought me Um Jammer Lammy and I swear I owe him my first born. If youve neber heard of ir, it's kind of like a sister game to Parappa the Rapper. If you haven't heard of that then all I can say is that its a rhythmn game for the Psx. I'm nit very good at the game anymore, I've been having alot of trouble with the second stage- never the less its still an awesome game. This was one of the many games I was close to stealing as a kd. I probably would have if I didn't think It would send me to hell.

That isnt all though, he also bought me the first Bust a Groove as an early birthday gift. If youre thinking of the game with the cute little dinosaurs and bubbles- thats not it. Bust a Groove is another psx rhythmn game that centres around pushing buttons on the bet to make your character dance. Kind of like a primitive DDR, no dance pad or anything- just a controller. The hing that made this game so memorable to me was the characters, they were all brightly designed to cartoonishly represent different dance styles and personalities. I'm still pretty good at it too- I've already beat it as some of my favourite characters.

Both of them are extremely nostalgic games for me as well as throughly entertaining ones. I'm forever thankful to Alex for buying me these pricey games and making the kid inside of me feel rich.

If there is one thing that I've learned from lack of internet access it's this: lack of computers does not mean I will be any more productive. My dad seems to think that because I don't spend all my time on the computer that I will suddenly become the overachiever than I was never meant to be. Really, now I've just got more time to do nothing. My days consist of watching insanely 1980-1990s shows, on the odd chance going out and then coming home and watching 1980-1990s movies.

My new favourite thing to do is lay around complaining that theres nothing to do.

It's not actually that bad, but sometimes it can just make a bad day even worse. I've been cooking a lot more and getting out to do things with my dad. Crepes all day every day, woo.

I have moved. No internet, no phone. Very lonely. I've planned so many posts after seeing so many things, but right now I am on an ipod and in some fncy frou frou coffee shop. I've gone to see so many movies with Alex and my Dad that its horribly funny. If i had normal internet access I would be posting a tad more often. Hopefully I can get internet soon.

Comments from my table-
Sarah (22) - shop hop hop?
Alex (21) - what are you doing?

I have a danish now, cya next time. Thank you Alex!

I usually feel really bad about the way I look. Then I get a pipe and a mustache and suddenly- I feel awesome.

Except for my teeth.

Black Swan was not as good as I was expecting it to be, a real let down. Although it wasn't a horrible movie, it wasn't an astonishing one either. It was interesting to see a retelling of Swan Lake, but the horror/psychological thriller just didn't click in very well. The movie was cheesy at most. Things were a tad too obvious from the beginning and the "transformation" scenes were really laughable. Really, I think I laughed more at this film than I experienced any type of fear. It felt like more of a video nasty than an honest to goodness thriller. The only thing that "scared" (I use this word lightly) me was the gratuitous shots of nails- and that's only because I have a general disliking of feet and fingernails.

It was a decent movie, I enjoyed watching it despite what I've said. I don't regret going to see it or anything- I just don't think it's as good as people are hyping it up to be.

My favorite band is probably the 50s surf rock band The Ventures. My dad introduced me to them a few years ago after I became obsessed with the song Soy Bomb on Guitar Hero 2. After hearing Walk Don't Run I couldn't stop listening to them. It was to the point where I would wake up, put on a Ventures playlist on imeem (oh god that sounds so horrible but it's the sad, sad, sad truth) and keep it on all day. There was one song on that play list that after imeem was bought out by Myspace, I've never been able to find again. It was a instrumental cover of Lovin' Spoonful's (this really doesn't stop sounding horrible) "Summer in the City".

So, the other day while I was downtown with Alex I got to talking to him about this song and how I was sure I would never hear it again. We didn't really make too much of the conversation and we moved on to eating a box of fries we were working on. After we had finished devouring those poor deep fried potatoes, Alex suggested we go down to the local record store and check if they had any Smiths records in. I'm unsure if he had this planned the whole time, or made note of my yearning for delicious surf rock but lo and behold- they had the album.

This was 5 dollars very well spent.

Now I just need to find a record player.
If I'm not playing video games or farting around on the computer, I'm usually watching movies. I spent the night over at Alex's and staying true to the above statement the night was mainly filled with movies, TV and video games.

We are productive.

It's pretty awesome being with Alex mainly because we have the same taste in movies and the such. The biggest difference between us is that Alex has a bigger (HUDGE SIZED) movie library. It's refreshing to go to his house and watch some Hays Era movies after a long week of Mystery Men (my dad has impeccable taste, don't you think so?) and My Big Fat Greek Wedding. So rather than spending another night with Jim Belushi and the Baldwins and or Buseys, I got to watch The Third Man.

I might just have an affinity towards Orson Welles, but once again Alex has introduced me to an awesome movie. I don't like giving away the story in a blog post, so I'm just going to try and tip toe around everything. That being said The Third Man's story was just sneaky enough to be enjoyable. It was obvious who "the third man" was, but I didn't see the ending coming until the last stretch of the film. I can only imagine that the book is even more in depth with the twists and turns of the plot, I'll have to pick it up at some point. Not only was the story delicious, but the cinematography is pants on head retarded in the best way possible. The lighting and angles of just about every shot looked like it was done so meticulously, it's mind blowing. All together a really enjoyable movie.

Also DAT THEME.

I'm unable to get to sleep right now because I am thinking too much about silly things. When ever I make a decision I find myself regretting it moments later. Maybe I don't think things through enough, maybe I just don't have very much confidence.

Either way this has led me to playing Scrabble with a friend to try and calm down. I like word games like Scrabble, less because I know a lot of words and more because it gives me a chance to learn new ones. Sadly I'm pretty sure me and buddy just randomly set down tiles and hope it spells something.

Also I just lost because of q, z and l. These are now the worst letters.

This is the biggest inside joke ever but I don't even care.

Thank you Alex. Saints Row 2 is the best game.

Wednesday, January 5, 2011

Last night my Dad, Alex and I all watched Contact on VHS (old as balls). Other than being a cheesy 90s movie, it was really fasinating. I'm guessing the fact that Carl Sagan wrote the book the movie is based off made it so incredible, while the fact that it was made in the 90s made it such a cheesey 90s film.

We all argued if the religious cult leader was a Busey or a Baldwin. All I said was that it was the dude from Starship Troopers who played the space fiddle. It happens to be Jake Busey who also played Ace in Starship Troopers. Awesome. I still think he would make a great Zell from FF8. They have the same jackass face. I also think he should play more creepy parts, he would be such a good creeper.

Also look at him play the drums.

I went to a friend's birthday party last night. It was a superhero themed party and it was mucho fun. We mostly played Smash Bros, Kirby Air Ride and Silent Hill 3. One of her lovely friends also made the best pot of chili in the world. I forgot how much fun it is to hang out with friends and act like a retard. I say act like a retard because I spent most of the night and the trip to the grocery store wearing a very fake moustashe...

Life is pretty good.
