My favorite band is probably the 50s surf rock band The Ventures. My dad introduced me to them a few years ago after I became obsessed with the song
Soy Bomb on Guitar Hero 2. After hearing Walk Don't Run I couldn't stop listening to them. It was to the point where I would wake up, put on a Ventures playlist on imeem (oh god that sounds so horrible but it's the sad, sad, sad truth) and keep it on all day. There was one song on that play list that after imeem was bought out by Myspace, I've never been able to find again. It was a instrumental cover of Lovin' Spoonful's (this really doesn't stop sounding horrible) "Summer in the City".
So, the other day while I was downtown with Alex I got to talking to him about this song and how I was sure I would never hear it again. We didn't really make too much of the conversation and we moved on to eating a box of fries we were working on. After we had finished devouring those poor deep fried potatoes, Alex suggested we go down to the local record store and check if they had any Smiths records in. I'm unsure if he had this planned the whole time, or made note of my yearning for delicious surf rock but lo and behold- they had the album.

This was 5 dollars very well spent.
Now I just need to find a record player.
